Role:                 Service Manager (Children and Young People)

Based:              Gateshead

Hourly:             £26 - £29 per hour (dependant on experience)

Start Date:      ASAP

Duration:         6 months initially with the strong possibility of a permanent role at the end   of the placement

Hours:              35 hours per week Monday - Friday

Our client, a leading children’s charity, providing support vulnerable children and young people across the UK are looking for a Service Manager to join their new Open Access CYP Mental Health Service in the Northeast.

You will be working with a fantastic team and will be leading them in introducing and delivering their ground breaking CYP Emotional Well Being model across Gateshead.

This will include working closely with a range of professionals and local services and supporting Children and Young people with low level mental health needs in their centres, schools, and community services.

The role will include supporting Children and Young People ages 0-25 who are experiencing low level mental health issues.

Synopsis of duties:

·       To work in partnership with CCG/ICS’s and Foundation Partnership Trust, , Children & Young People Mental Health services, Police, Children’s Social care and other statutory/ non statutory service providers.

·       To lead the EHWB services ensuring to maintaining risk and ability to manage challenging situations.

·       To ensure the EHWB services has a robust structure of line management including clinical supervision.

·       Deliver the service specification.

·       To work with a range of key partners to ensure that young people and their families receive effective and co-ordinated support.

·       To lead on the recruitment, training, and personal development of service staff.

·       To monitor and manage expenditure against agreed budgets.

·       To co-plan, organise and co-ordinate practice meetings and development days for all staff.

·       To ensure robust monitoring and evaluation of service delivery, delivering regular reports – this will include regular operational and clinical governance reporting.

·       Ensure that service delivery maintains compliancy with best practice requirements.

·       To demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the development and delivery of services

·       To be the lead point of contact and maintain positive professional relationships with young people, families, colleagues, and partner agencies.

·       To be the responsible professional for the performance and quality of the service and to lead EHWB practice teams.

·       To lead in the development and embedding of evidence-based evaluations based on the collection of robust data that drives service improvements.

·       To manage the conduct and performance of staff within the service.

·       To ensure that systems are in place for the collection of quality data for contractual reporting which meets the deadlines of commissioners.

·       To ensure the service aligns and reports to clinical governance assurance framework, including the Quality Process Review and to ensure the team deliver quality clinically informed youth work.

·       Take lead responsibility in identifying both clinical and non-clinical training needs through the appraisal process, supervision, feedback from clinical supervision.

·       To take a lead in ensuring the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (e.g., BPS, UKCP, BABCP, HCPC, RMN), and keep up to date on new recommendations / guidelines set by the Department of Health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

Essential Requirements:

·        Experience of working with children/young people who have suffered with mental health issues

·       Excellent understanding of common mental and emotional health issues that children & young people face, informed by current research and evidence bases.

·       Clinical insight into emotional health and mental health pathways within the NHS CYP Mental Health Services.

·       Appreciation and awareness of issues facing hard-to-reach young people around access to early help and crisis support.

·       A working knowledge of current mental health support agencies in the local area.

·       An understanding of current legislation, policy, procedures, and issues relating to safeguarding young people.

·       Substantial experience of leadership within a mental health service.

·       Track record of working with external stakeholders to deliver better outcomes for children and young people.

·       Experience of working with a range of partners (both statutory and wider)

·       Preferably have a qualification in one of the following: Health or Social Care related degree, JNC Qualified Youth Worker, Counselling/Therapist Qualification or equivalent

·       Must have an enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service
