Service Engineer (National Travel)
Bedford Head Office
Salary to £46,000 plus vehicle, private health, work wear, tools and more
We are a well-established provider of engineering maintenance services to a world leading manufacturer of power solutions for the Commercial, Aviation, Marine and Military markets. In the past few years, we have grown our UK team from 7 staff to 29 with work shops in Bedford, Manchester and Gatwick. We now have an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated Service Engineer to join our team. Located within an hour of Bedford, you will likely spend two days per week at our workshop here and the rest of the week travelling to customer sites across the country. You will work as part of a respected technical service team responsible for world class power related electronic equipment. This role will focus on the static inverters and aviation ground power units and involve visiting customer sites, making sure all RAMS are completed and all customer requirements are in place before the visit, recognising & diagnosing faults using technical experience and/or diagnostic equipment and signing off on all units repaired at the workshop or customer’s site.
We invite applications from experienced Service Engineers with an electrical bias and the following skills:
* Extensive knowledge of fixed power at head of stand 415 v in 200v X400HZ along with TRU knowledge 28 volt.
* You will possess at least an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance or a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering ideally obtained during a formal apprenticeship
* At least one formal Level 3 Electrical Testing and Inspection qualification such as the C&G 2391, 2391-10, or C&G 2394 & 5
* 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
* Experience with Commercial or Emergency Lighting, Battery Solutions, UPS, Ground Power Units (Aviation) & Airport GSE or similar would be beneficial
* Full UK Driving License
* Ability to use, read and interpret electrical drawings
* You are proficient with electrical testing equipment
* You will have at least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
