The Role: 

As a Project Manager within the Home Office Airwave Live Services Team, the postholder will coordinate across multiple integrated delivery teams to deliver the Sustainability projects (Network upgrade and Improvement) in support of the delivery and the continued support of the existing Emergency Services Network, Airwave Service. The Airwave Sustainability Projects consist of several workstreams. The Projects are to plan and replace, upgrade and address, issues Airwave (a mission critical service that provides service to three emergency services nationally.) The issues include but are not limited to end of life for some of the technical components, security vulnerabilities, and upgrade of control rooms. The individual will work closely with the Live Services team, Airwave key supplier and user organisations to ensure the delivery is on time and aligned to the revised delivery plans.

Responsibilities:

Successful delivery to Emergency Service user organisations of planned Airwave upgrades in 2024

To develop project delivery plans for Sustainability Project in collaboration with ESN Airwave supplier and user organisation

Communications engagement with User Organisations and Airwave Supplier in relation to upgrade programmes

Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team.

Budgeting – Track delivery within budget.

Resources – Schedule / manage resources to deliver the project.

Stakeholder Management – Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships.

Risks & Issues – Identify and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate.

Governance – Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making.

Project Performance & Controls – Build Project Plan and apply appropriate project principles to deliver stated objectives. Identify and set appropriate Project Controls. Track and report delivery against milestones.

Skills & Experience:

Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Be able to develop and implement standards, tools, processes, and systems for successful project delivery with the ability to adopt the most appropriate according to the environment.

An expert at effectively managing relationships with multiple stakeholders, producing clear advice and influence on complex issues.

Extensive experience of working in a large project delivery environment

Ability to proactively problem solve, identify associated impacts and work

collaboratively with partners to resolve and mitigate.

Able to translate and simplify detailed information into a clear, concise format that is understandable for a wider audience.
