Senior/R&D Chemist – Synthetic Organic Chemistry – Chemical Industry
AYG Chemical is currently assisting a leading Chemical Manufacturer to find a Senior/R&D Chemist due to business growth. This presents an excellent opportunity to join a company heavily investing in its future, offering room for professional development and career advancement.
Role Overview:
The primary focus of this role is on developing, designing, and executing projects centred around the synthesis of macrocyclic compounds.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct literature searches and laboratory experiments to explore innovative processes, materials and techniques for potential integration into new product development.
* Scale up laboratory reactions to maximum capacity, develop Technology Transfer packs and collaborate with the QC department to establish analytical methods for in-process quality control and final product assessment.
* Act as a production "champion" during developmental trials within the production facility.
* Prepare monthly reports detailing R&D activities conducted in the laboratory.
* Maintain a high level of proficiency in the chemical processes utilised in Operations.
* Adhere strictly to housekeeping and safety protocols in both laboratory and office environments, ensuring cleanliness, tidiness, and spill-free conditions at all times.
* Uphold the company's Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies, with a focus on meticulous record-keeping, data management, and sample preservation.
* Demonstrate flexibility in fulfilling additional duties as required.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
* Previous experience in macrocyclic chemistry is desireable.
* Ideally educated to PhD level; however, consideration will be given to candidates with extensive experience working with macrocyclic compounds within the chemical industry, holding MSc or BSc qualifications.
* Strong background in Organic Synthesis within the Chemical Indsutry
* Proficiency in conducting laboratory-based research and development activities.
* Familiarity with the transfer of R&D processes to manufacturing is advantageous.
* Strong understanding and application of good laboratory practices.
* Robust knowledge of modern organic chemistry principles and techniques.
* Demonstrated ability to establish and nurture effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
