Senior Underwriting Analyst | Contract

Location: London / Hybrid
Contract: 3 months
Rate: £400 to £500 per day (depending upon experience)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Underwriting Analyst to join a growing Underwriting team on a contract basis, supporting the profitability and growth of a portfolio of products and accounts.

This is a commercially focused analytical role where you will use underwriting, pricing, financial modelling and data analysis to assess new and existing business and provide insight that directly supports commercial decision-making.

The Role

• Manage the underwriting of a portfolio of products and accounts
• Develop pricing structures for new and existing business, ensuring target margins and profitability are achieved
• Produce profitability projections, financial models and long-term performance forecasts
• Perform advanced analysis of large datasets to identify trends, risks and opportunities
• Develop and maintain underwriting models, reports and performance monitoring
• Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders
• Support financial forecasting, budgeting and reforecasting activities
• Work closely with Commercial, Finance, Pricing, Data Science, MI and Account Management teams
• Support key projects and initiatives across the Underwriting function
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and enhanced analytics
• Ensure data quality, governance and underwriting standards are maintained

About You

You will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a commercially focused underwriting, pricing or related analytical role, with a strong track record of delivering analytical and commercial outputs.

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong understanding of underwriting, pricing, profitability modelling and forecasting
• Excellent analytical skills and experience working with large datasets
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with data analysis/mining tools
• SQL and Power BI experience would be highly desirable
• Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
• Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Experience working in fast-paced, agile environments
• Numerate degree or equivalent experience
