Location: Near Southampton (On-site, 5 days per week)
Contract: Initial 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension
Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: £18.51 per hour (PAYE)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Technologist to support the development of next-generation vaping products through the formulation, manufacture, and evaluation of e-liquid products.

This role will play a key part in driving product innovation by preparing e-liquid formulations, supporting development activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring products meet the highest quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory-based product development, data analysis, technical reporting, and documentation while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a scientifically minded individual with strong laboratory experience, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for product development. Experience working with e-liquid formulations, small-scale manufacturing, and quality testing would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manufacture e-liquid formulations to support product innovation and development programmes.
Produce laboratory-scale batches and maintain accurate manufacturing and technical records.
Plan, prioritise, and manage multiple formulation requests and development activities to meet project timelines.
Perform product quality testing and analytical assessments using established laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
Analyse, interpret, and summarise experimental data to support product approvals and technical decision-making.
Collaborate with scientists, product developers, and key stakeholders to deliver project objectives.
Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, quality, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.
Handle and manage raw materials, including hazardous substances, in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
Support consumer testing activities and prepare samples for evaluation.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across formulation development and laboratory practices.
Participate in risk assessments and promote safe working practices, including the appropriate use of PPE.
Ensure laboratory equipment and workspaces are maintained to the highest standards.

Essential Experience

Proven hands-on laboratory experience, including sample preparation, testing, and analysis.
Experience handling raw materials and conducting small-scale batch manufacturing.
Strong ability to plan, organise, and prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience maintaining accurate experimental records and technical documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (BSc) or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.

Desirable Experience

Experience formulating and manufacturing e-liquids in a laboratory environment.
Experience conducting product quality testing and evaluation.
Knowledge of analytical techniques and laboratory instrumentation used within product development and quality assessment.
