Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer
Salary: up to £42,500 per annum dependent on experience
Location: Bristol/ South London/ Portsmouth
We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Senior Systems Engineer. The role can be based at the Bristol, South London or Portsmouth sites and offers the opportunity for hybrid working and flexible working hours- individual circumstances will be discussed.

You will play a pivotal role within the Hardware Product Team, covering a number of facets including design of Shared Infrastructure products and systems, procurement and build, testing, issue resolution and authoring of documentation to support Safety and Legal requirements. Opportunities exist to work in different offices encompassing the aforementioned activities and on Naval platforms in service and in build.

Main Responsibilities:
* Generation of design, test and installation documentation
* Investigation and resolution of design issues
* Design and build of electrical and hardware systems to achieve successful acceptance
* Understanding of Configuration Control and baselines
* Use of Visio for Hardware design
* Successful installation and setting to work of hardware on ship
* Design proving via a combination of in-house testing and external test houses
* Authoring of test specs for shock, vibration, EMC and others

About You:
Essential:
* Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation.
* Experience in a hardware domain
* Knowledge and experience of equipment development using COTS hardware
* Ability to author and understand technical and design documentation
Desirable:
* Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment
* Experience with COTS cabinets, cabinet design, wiring schedules, power distribution
* Familiarity with blade, PC and networking technologies
You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
