A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join a leading high-technology R&D organisation specialising in advanced bespoke laser based systems.
This role is ideal for a commercially aware systems engineer with strong technical depth, who enjoys leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects from concept through to delivery. You will play a key role in the definition, design, integration, and validation of bespoke, high-precision laser systems used across cutting-edge industrial and research applications globally.

The role – Senior Systems Engineer
Act as the technical bridge between engineering, sales, and customers
Support commercial activities including technical proposals, system costing, and tender responses
Lead system integration and validation, ensuring performance, reliability and compliance
Capture and manage customer requirements, translating them into clear technical specifications
Perform system modelling, trade-off analysis, and optimisation
Troubleshoot complex system-level issues and drive root-cause analysis
Contribute to new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, optical, electrical, software)
Requirements – Senior Systems Engineer
Degree in Engineering or Physics (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Optical or similar)
Strong experience in systems engineering and integration of complex equipment
Hands-on experience with laser systems.
Solid understanding of: System architecture and system-level design, Optics and laser-material interactions and motion systems and automation/control systems
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams and with customers
Commercial awareness and willingness to support sales / business development activities
