Our client is a global leader in advanced engineering and manufacturing, developing innovative products that support industries worldwide. With a strong focus on technology, electrification and intelligent control systems, they are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to work on next-generation vehicle systems, supporting the design, integration and delivery of advanced electrical and electronic solutions from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in defining, developing and integrating electrical and electronic systems across new product programmes. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you will ensure system requirements are translated into robust technical solutions that deliver exceptional product performance.

Translating customer needs into clear, testable functional and system requirements.

Developing and evaluating system architectures to improve commonality, reuse and product optimisation.

Designing and integrating electrical and electronic systems across complex vehicle platforms.

Selecting appropriate hardware solutions to meet environmental, performance and cost requirements.

Developing software and system architectures to support technical delivery.

Managing third-party suppliers, including requirements definition and software architecture coordination.

Ensuring robust ECU communication using protocols such as CAN, CANOpen, J1939 and Ethernet.

Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Supporting design for manufacture, including software deployment and parameter configuration.

Monitoring system health, diagnostics and performance using onboard and remote technologies.

Applying structured development methodologies including the V Model approach.

Considering functional safety and cybersecurity requirements throughout system development.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience working within systems engineering, software engineering or electrical/electronic engineering environments.

Strong understanding of electronic systems development, from low-level firmware through to application-level integration.

Experience translating requirements into structured and testable functional specifications.

Knowledge of CAN-based communication protocols including CANOpen and J1939.

Experience with validation and verification activities, including black box testing and system integration testing.

Understanding of functional safety and cybersecurity principles within product development.

Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, signal generators and power supplies.

Knowledge of structured development methodologies and design verification processes.

Experience delivering electronic systems from concept through to production.
