Job Summary

The Senior Support Worker plays a pivotal role in providing high-quality care and support to residents within a residential home setting. This role involves supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the smooth running of daily operations, and providing guidance to support staff.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Supervision and Leadership:**
- Provide leadership and guidance to support staff, including mentoring, training, and supervising junior team members.
- Assist in the recruitment, induction, and performance management of support workers.
- Lead by example, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.

2. **Resident Care:**
- Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with residents, their families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide personal care and support in accordance with individual needs, preferences, and rights.
- Monitor residents' well-being, reporting any concerns or changes in health or behavior to appropriate parties.

3. **Daily Operations:**
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the residential home, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including care plans, incident reports, and medication administration records.
- Coordinate activities and programs to enhance residents' quality of life and promote social engagement.

4. **Communication and Collaboration:**
- Foster effective communication among staff, residents, families, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, such as nurses, doctors, and therapists, to ensure holistic care and support.
- Act as a point of contact for residents' families, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and offering support as needed.

5. **Health and Safety:**
- Promote a safe and hygienic environment, adhering to infection control protocols and health and safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to minimize hazards and ensure the physical safety of residents and staff.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, following established procedures and protocols.

**Qualifications and Skills:**

- Level 3 in health and social care,
- Previous experience working in a similar role within a residential care setting.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and compassion for residents.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in care provision.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and record-keeping systems.
