Senior Support Worker - Competitive Pay Rate – Established Housing & Support Charity – Full-Time Hours – Temporary to Permanent Contract

A charity established over 30 years ago, expanding upon homeless services to accommodate supported housing for domestic abuse survivors, those with mental health issues and victims of modern slavery and human trafficking.

Working with a focus on quality and collaborative-attitudes between staff and service users, our client has become one of the most well-known housing charities in London, supporting more than 15,000 adults in their recovery and safety.

The Role

The vacancy is that of a Senior Support Worker; the contract for this role is to last 5-months before consideration for permanence. 
Pay rate for this job is £14.34 per hour.
This is a full-time job; 37.5 hours per week, with social working hours between Monday & Friday, 9AM to 5PM. 
To be responsible for case work for people with a wide range of mental Health issues to promote their independence and wellbeing and support them to achieve their goals.  The Responsibilities

Empower a caseload of clients with a range of complex health and support needs and their carers to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain their independence, identify their strengths and achieve their goals and aspirations, working in partnership with our subcontractors as required in order to achieve this, under the direction of the Team Manager
Manage health and safety, repairs and maintenance of the premises.
To collect rents, service charges and manage arrears proactively by following policy, protocol and procedure.
To manage voids across the service and ensure referrals, assessments and service reviews are effective and timely. 
To clearly articulate the aims and objectives, pathway and service model to people using the service so they can fully participate in and co-produce their support
Empower service users to engage effectively in their liaisons with professionals within the community such as social work teams, housing providers, health professionals, JCP etc
Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure service coverage and that contractual obligations are met
Develop co-produced group activities, peer support networks and other community-based approaches to empowering service users to achieve their goals and aspirations and to encourage service users to access these opportunities
Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures
Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the team manager and using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise.About the Service/Department
The accommodation based support service supports adults with mental health conditions in Kingston. Clients live in shared accommodation managed by Hestia, with staff support on site 24/7.
The support provided is short term (6 months -2years) with staff supporting clients to achieve their goals with the aim being to promote independence.
The Service is designed to support individuals to help them overcome their challenges and live as independently as possible.
We have 12 clients at any one time.
The Service User is an individual so the support available will be customised to their particular situation and will last for as long as it is needed. The service works in close partnership with a range of statutory organisations to support Service Users.
It also aims to support people to understand and exercise their personal responsibilities and thereby prevent or minimise future demand on public and charitable resources.
The service places strong emphasis on co-production, thus ensuring that the needs and strengths of Service Users are paramount in delivering and developing the service, including developing and maintaining access to other community services and activities (i.e. signposting to culture specific services).  

The Requirements

Proven experience in supporting clients with complex needs, ensuring they receive ample support for identified requirements.
Ability to assess relevant risks and continue to prevent abuse, whilst providing a holistic support service to adults and young people in need.
Understanding or handling in relevant service-user themes of human trafficking, sexual abuse, domestic violence etc. 

The Desirables

Qualifications in or equivalent to a Level 3 Health & Social Care NVQ or Certificate in Fighting Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking.
Extensive understanding of appropriate legal advice with regards to immigration status or working with refugees.
