About WESolutions

WESolutions is a global healthcare recruitment consultancy, connecting healthcare professionals with international/domestic career opportunities.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Support Worker to provide direct, person-centred support to individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge. The role includes working within high-acuity care packages with enhanced staffing ratios, including 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1 support.

Alongside delivering high-quality care, you will guide and support colleagues during shifts, help coordinate staff responsibilities during high-risk situations, and ensure care plans, risk assessments and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies are followed consistently.

Key Responsibilities

*

Provide direct support to individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.

*

Guide and support Support Workers during shifts and help ensure effective staff deployment within 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1 care arrangements.

*

Ensure staff understand their roles and responsibilities when behavioural risks increase.

*

Recognise early warning signs and implement preventative and de-escalation strategies.

*

Provide calm, clear direction during incidents involving aggression, violence, absconding or property destruction.

*

Promote de-escalation and least restrictive approaches before physical intervention is considered, wherever practicable.

*

Ensure any restrictive intervention is carried out only by appropriately trained staff and in accordance with the individual's authorised care plan and risk assessment.

*

Support colleagues after incidents and contribute to structured debriefing.

*

Ensure incidents, injuries, restrictive interventions and safeguarding concerns are documented accurately and escalated appropriately.

*

Monitor care records and behavioural observations.

*

Support new team members through shadow shifts and competency development.

*

Promote dignity, independence, choice and least restrictive practice.

Essential Requirements

*

Significant hands-on experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.

*

Previous experience in 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 high-acuity care packages.

*

Strong experience managing physical aggression and behavioural escalation.

*

Demonstrable experience using effective de-escalation strategies.

*

Experience of physical intervention or restraint within an appropriate care setting.

*

Experience following PBS plans, behavioural risk assessments and complex care plans.

*

Experience supporting, guiding or informally supervising other care workers.

*

A sound understanding of safeguarding, DoLS, incident management and least restrictive practice
