Summary

We have an opportunity for a dedicated, person-centred Senior Support Worker to join our team at Andmu Care Services. Andmu Care Services is a semi-independent accommodation that provides placements for young people aged 16 -18. We support young people on their transformational journey to becoming responsible adults by promoting a nurturing and positive environment where they feel safe and secure.

In the role of Senior Support Worker , you will work closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the homes. You will assist the manager with day-to-day operations and ensure regulatory compliance. Your role will be crucial in shaping the lives of young people aged 16-18, including both indigenous and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.

We have two homes:

Lavender Home provides 24-hour supported accommodation for young people and Sunflower Home accommodates young people who are unaccompanied asylum seekers.

You will lead and support a team of Support Workers within the supported accommodation programme. This will include developing positive and supportive relationships with the team and young people, plan and arrange keywork sessions for young people, compiling Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and any required reports.

Main duties & responsibilities include:

* Develop positive, respectful, and compassionate relationships with young people we support, focusing on their strengths and aspirations as individuals.

* You will assist and promote the young people to live more independently.

* Arrange and attend placement planning meetings, ensure young people are registered with medical facilities within 5 working days of being placed.

* Develop positive and supportive relationships with your staff team.

* Have a high standard of professional integrity with colleagues and other professionals.

* Establish clear professional boundaries with the young people we support.

* Ensuring person centred planning and unconditional positive regard is undertaken by staff.

* Ensuring the needs of the people we support are being met.

* Plan and manage key work sessions for young people

* Ensure support plans and risk assessment plans are up to date for all young people

* Advocating on behalf of the young people we support.

* Investigate and resolve any complaints made by the people we support.

* Ensure in conjunction with the manager that Health & Safety of the homes is maintained to a high standard.

* Ensure staff are using support plans to record and assess the progress of the young people.

* You will plan and attend appointments, social visits, and days out with young people.

* Ensure you have detailed knowledge of other relevant services.

* You will set the example and standards for junior members of staff.

* You will be familiar with our policies and ensure that they are implemented by all.

* You will contribute to the maintenance of a positive, safe, and homely environment.

* Ensure all case recording and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring electronic records are protected in line with GDPR and kept up to date and written to a high standard.

* Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.

Other Duties

Administration duties will vary, including operating online systems and ensuring that correct processes are followed in accordance with GDPR and confidentiality guidelines.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.

What we expect from you

* We need you to be qualified to SVQ Level 3 H&SC or SCQF equivalent or be happy to work towards this. We also need you to have leadership skills gained through work experience or your soft skill set and we also need you to have an understanding of the needs of the people we support.

* You MUST be over the age of 23 and have a driving license

* You MUST have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with young people.

* Ability to work weekends.

* Excellent communication skills and relationship building skills.

* Satisfactory references.

* A kind, patient, and caring personality.

* A genuine interest for supporting and learning with young people.
