Senior Support Case Worker

Location: Stockwell

Permanent, 37.5 hours per a week

Salary: £28,914

Are you looking for a new and rewarding career challenge? If you are passionate about making a real difference through supporting vulnerable young people, we would love to hear from you!

Our client has a Senior Support Worker role in their supported housing service in Stockwell. The service is close to Stockwell tube station, has good public transport links and onsite parking for colleagues.

This role will specifically support a caseload of up to 7 unaccompanied young people who are seeking asylum in the United Kingdom and have been placed in our services as part of the Lambeth Young Peoples Pathway.

This role works to our person-centred support model building on customer care, health and safety, flexibility, adaptability, and other skills to assist homeless individuals who are currently unable to live independently, by offering them the practical and emotional support they need to regain their Independence.

As well as the very specific needs related to their status as an asylum seeker these young people come to us with a range of other support needs, including but not limited to mental health and learning disabilities.

The support for each customer is person-centred, requires creative energy and is hugely rewarding for colleagues as well as life changing for our customers. This means embracing a dynamic work environment where each day presents unique challenges, offering valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth.

You will join a lively, supportive, and friendly team to work together to provide an excellent service for our young people. The wider team at our Stockwell service support young parents and their children. As part of the team, you will be required to support your caseload of young unaccompanied asylum seekers and our other customers to:

· Identify their strengths as part of our asset-based approach and identify their needs,

· opportunities, rights, and responsibilities to enable them to move onto to independent living.

· Plan and set targets to achieve and take appropriate action to meet their goals and aspirations.

· Take part in activities and provide them with opportunities that generate aspiration and confidence.

A key part of the role is enabling customers to gain necessary support from other agencies so you will need to be able to network/build relationships with those in other organisations and support customers through their processes to access the support they need such as accessing legal support, benefits, housing, and education.

You need knowledge of safeguarding and how this may apply in the day-to-day work we do as well as understanding of the reasons why people become homeless and the needs and challenges, they face

and of statutory as well as the voluntary resources available to the homeless and those seeking asylum in the UK.

Ou client is an equal opportunities employer and encourages applications from all sections of the community, including people who have experienced homelessness themselves. Equality, diversity, and inclusion are key objectives for us, and we reflect this in our recruitment practices, actively seeking applications from all parts of the community regardless of race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or disability.

You will need to have the correct right to work in the UK in place, as our client does not have a sponsorship license.

You will need to be able to work shifts on a pre-planned rolling rota - 5 /7 days a week including mornings (from 7am), evenings (to 10pm) - these also include mid shifts and weekends.

In return, we can offer you:

· Over 6 weeks holiday per annum (rising with service)

· Ability to buy or sell additional one week holiday per annum.

· Employee paid DBS checks · Occupational sick pay.

· Employer contributory pension scheme

· 4 x Life Assurance

· Medical Cash Back Plan

· Yulife Employee Assistance & Rewards Programme

· Cycle to work scheme.

· Full training and induction programme

About our client:

A leading homelessness charity in London, providing housing and support to over 1,300 people each year.

Our aim is to help children, young people and adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to become independent and resilient. We believe in building on people’s strengths, aspirations, and goals to help them break the cycle of homelessness.

We offer a programme of support tailored to meet people’s individual needs, including housing, employment, and skills training, mentoring, and counselling. We work with young parents and children at risk of exclusion to build the skills and resilience that can help prevent homelessness. We campaign to end street homelessness. We build affordable homes to help people move on to an independent life
