Senior Structural Engineer

Looking for your next career move in structural engineering? Our client is seeking a capable Senior Structural Engineer to join its Cambridge team, offering the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects while taking an active role in technical delivery, project coordination and client relationships.
The successful candidate will contribute to projects from initial concept and detailed design through to tender, construction and completion. Responsibilities will include developing practical, cost-effective structural solutions, coordinating with architects and other design disciplines, carrying out design reviews and ensuring projects meet technical requirements, budgets and deadlines.
The role will also involve undertaking structural surveys and preparing reports, monitoring project progress and resources, supporting fee proposals and helping to develop lasting relationships with clients. There will be opportunities to contribute to business development and promote the use of BIM and 3D design processes across projects.
Our client is looking for an engineer with a relevant degree or master's qualification and at least five years' UK residency, as candidates must have lived in the UK for a minimum of five years. Applicants should have professional structural engineering experience and be Chartered or working towards Chartership.
A sound understanding of building construction, Building Regulations and associated legislation is essential, alongside strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Experience delivering projects within the education, healthcare and local authority sectors would be particularly valuable, as would familiarity with schemes ranging in contract value from £10,000 to £5 million. A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to project sites are also required.
Security clearance may be required for this position, potentially including BPSS, DBS, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check or Developed Vetting, depending on the projects involved.
