The Role

The London office is searching for a Senior/Associate Structural Engineer to join their growing building engineering team, working on diverse projects including high-rise structures, adaptive re-use schemes, and specialised architectural projects for major UK developers and contractors.

The role entails collaborating with the Structures Lead to manage project delivery and foster team development, while also coordinating with other disciplines offered within the company, such as civil, façades, infrastructure, bridge engineering, and geotechnical consultancy.

The ideal candidate for this role should have strong technical skills and excellent organisational and communication abilities, ideally gained from experience in a multi-disciplinary or engineering consultancy environment. They will be engaged in diverse projects spanning various sectors and stages, from concept design to construction.

While the majority of projects are UK-based, the company's international operations offer opportunities for candidates with experience in global project delivery, providing a platform for further skill enrichment and professional growth within a supportive and expanding organisation.

Responsibilities:

Design delivery: prepare, review and approve calculations, drawings and other documentation.
Managing a design team and providing guidance and mentoring to junior members.
Delivering multiple small projects and or tasks within budget and to schedule.
Communicating with clients, review and agree scope for elements of work, prepare proposals and manage project finances.

Experience:

At least eight years of relevant experience, ideally within an engineering consultancy or the construction industry
Qualified to MEng level or above.
Excellent time management and the ability prioritize execution of work
High attention to detail
Ideally ICE or IstructE Chartered, though not essential
Experience of high-rise design
Strong understanding of holistic sustainable design
Be familiar with embodied carbon as a design parameter and strive for solutions which are effective from a sustainability perspective.
Experience in the assessment and re-use of existing structures (concrete, steel, masonry and timber)
Experience of the utilisation of timber in modern structural design
Able to work independently and demonstrate ability to lead small teams in the preparation of design related to structures and temporary works
Relevant design and delivery experience with reinforced concrete, post-tension concrete, structural steel, timber and masonry structures
Familiar with analysis and design software
Good knowledge of current building standards, analysis and codes of practice
Good understanding of BIM project requirements. Able to communicate and manage drafters to deliver compliant design
