THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is delighted to be supporting a highly successful, family-run business that has grown extensively over recent years to become one of the UK’s leading flooring businesses, with operations and depots located nationwide.
The organisation has built its success through a strong reputation for quality, reliability and customer service, and continues to invest in its people, processes and infrastructure as the business expands.
Due to continued company growth, an exciting opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Senior Stock Controller to join the team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced stock control, purchasing or supply planning professional to take ownership of a key supplier portfolio and play a central role in ensuring stock availability across a growing, multi-site operation.
The business offers something increasingly valuable in today's market — stability, long-term career prospects and genuine progression opportunities. With very low employee turnover, this is an organisation where people build long-term careers rather than simply move through roles.

THE ROLE
As Senior Stock Controller, you will take ownership of supplier ordering schedules, stock forecasting and replenishment planning, ensuring the business maintains the right stock levels to meet customer demand while avoiding unnecessary stockholding.
You will manage your own portfolio of suppliers and be responsible for reviewing demand, forecasting requirements, placing purchase orders and coordinating deliveries through to completion.
The role will require someone who is commercially aware, highly organised and confident working with data, suppliers and internal teams. You will play an important role in identifying potential shortages before they become an issue, managing supplier lead times and helping improve stock accuracy and availability across the wider business.
Key responsibilities will include:

Manage and maintain ordering schedules for allocated suppliers, ensuring orders are placed in line with demand
Review sales trends, available stock, stock already on order and outstanding customer orders to forecast replenishment requirements
Plan purchasing around supplier lead times, seasonal demand and changes in sales volumes
Raise and maintain purchase orders, checking quantities, prices and delivery requirements
Communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm availability, agree loading and delivery schedules and chase outstanding orders
Check supplier orderbooks against internal records and resolve discrepancies relating to quantities or delivery dates
Monitor shortages and delayed orders, working with suppliers and internal teams to prioritise stock required for customers
Review stock across multiple depots and coordinate internal stock transfers where required
Identify excess, slow-moving and obsolete stock and recommend appropriate action to reduce unnecessary stockholding
Maintain accurate ordering schedules, stock reports and expected delivery dates using Excel and internal systems
Investigate stock discrepancies with warehouse teams and support improvements in stock accuracy and ordering processes
Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve stock control, purchasing and supply chain processes
THE PERSON
The successful candidate will have proven experience within stock control, purchasing, procurement, supply planning or stock replenishment, with a strong understanding of supplier ordering and demand forecasting.
You will be confident working independently, managing your own supplier portfolio and balancing multiple priorities in a busy commercial environment.
Essential:

Proven experience managing supplier ordering schedules, forecasting demand, placing purchase orders and coordinating deliveries
Strong numerical and analytical ability with excellent attention to detail
Confident using Excel and stock control, purchasing or ERP systems
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent communication skills with the confidence to deal directly with suppliers and internal teams
Ability to work independently and take ownership of your workload
Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to stock management and problem solving   Desirable:

3+ years' experience within stock control, purchasing or supply planning
Experience working within a multi-site distribution, wholesale or high-volume inventory environment
Experience coordinating stock transfers between multiple locations
Experience identifying excess, slow-moving or obsolete stock
Previous experience within a fast-paced purchasing or supply chain environment
WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY?
This isn't just another stock control position.
You will be joining a growing, highly successful family-run business at an exciting stage of its development, where your experience and ideas will genuinely be valued.
With a nationwide operation, continued investment and further growth planned, there is real scope to develop your career and make your mark on the stock and purchasing function.
The business has an enviable reputation for employee stability and low staff turnover, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a long-term career with a company that values its people.
If you're an experienced Stock Controller, Buyer, Purchasing Specialist or Supply Planner looking for your next step with a successful and expanding organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
