ABOUT THE ROLE

Salary: Up to c£65,000 DOE

Location: Sheffield/Hybrid remote working (office based 2/3 days per week)

ZOO Digital currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join our award-winning R&D Department. Research & Development work closely with the Product Support Team to create cutting edge software solutions for high profile and industry-leading customers.

The purpose of the Senior Software Engineer role is to demonstrate exemplary high standards in code implementation and encourage similar high standards in other team members within the R&D team. You will be responsible for ensuring that code added to products meets the original requirements and is of a consistently high standard through the review, approval and merging of merge requests from other team members.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

* Working as the sole developer or working within a team to develop software according to ZOO’s needs.

* Providing technical insights on a product.

* Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of software components anywhere in the software stack.

* Lead by example with respect to designing, tasking up, estimating, and updating Target Process.

* Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. DevOps & QA) and vendors (both internal & external to the organisation) to fix and improve products

* Take ownership of features/products as appropriate.

* Supervising and overseeing the technical aspects of the development project.

* Determine root causes of the most complex software issues, developing practical technical solutions.

* Identify, prioritise and ensure the execution of tasks in the software development life cycle.

* Develop features by producing clean, efficient code.

* Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting.

* Responsible for the review and debug of code to ensure high quality.

* Remain current on new technologies & make recommendations to Technical Lead where necessary.

* Identify and champion appropriate technologies to complete software development tasks.

* Provide support and maintenance of live and legacy products.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for someone who is keen to be part of a forward-thinking and dynamic department, to help drive the business forward by achieving project goals. As well as programming experience in one or more Object-Oriented languages, we are looking for applicants with c.4 years of experience working at a senior or above level within a software engineering role, ideally with commercial development experience gained in an Agile environment.
