Senior Software Developer – Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP)

* The starting salary is £58,310 which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

* The salary is broken down as £55,469 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £60,507. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

* Location: Birmingham/London with hybrid working

Behind the scenes of Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is an incredible new tech team. They’re tasked with providing vital solutions to CTP – and you could be part of the unit. At this level, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the new team and implement some of the exciting new technology and processes within the organisation. You’ll lead on designing and creating bespoke software following agile delivery processes as part of a DevSecOps team.

Day to day, you’ll be collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery. The goal? Code that’s well tested and consistently error-free. Working flexibly from home or from one of our easily accessible offices in Birmingham or London, you’ll design, architect, and develop software solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability. The result? A world-class development functions.

As a Senior Software Developer, you’ll integrate external solutions and scripts, and ensure that various environments are well architected and documented. We’ll expect you to apply your skills without support, determine and use the most appropriate tools and techniques and share knowledge and experience.

Join us, and you’ll have the freedom to innovate and contribute to a meaningful cause alongside our experts. We’re looking for experience of software application development and coding, preferably gained in a DevSecOps environment. You should also have at least three of the following:

* .NET (VB, C#, ASP.NET, .NET CORE)

* Python

* JavaScript (REACT, Bootstrap Frameworks, js)

* Database design

* SQL / SQL Server

* NoSQL technologies e.g. Elasticsearch

* GitOps

* Containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes Environment, Yaml, Helm, Docker)

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
