Social Worker – Child Protection Enquiry Service

Location: Lifford House, Birmingham
Pay Rate: £30.57 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Agency/Temporary
Hours: Full-time (Hybrid Working)

Are you an experienced Children's Social Worker with a passion for safeguarding children and supporting families? We're recruiting for a Social Worker to join the South Child Protection Enquiry Service in Birmingham, based at Lifford House.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dedicated safeguarding team, progressing plans for children and young people who are subject to Section 47 (S47) Child Protection enquiries. The role offers hybrid working, combining office and home working, with attendance required on team days and allocated duty days.

The Role

As a Social Worker within the Child Protection Enquiry Service, you will manage a caseload of children and young people, undertaking statutory assessments and coordinating multi-agency interventions to safeguard those at risk of significant harm.

You will work closely with families and partner agencies to assess risk, develop effective plans and ensure children receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage a caseload of children and young people subject to Section 47 enquiries.

* Undertake high-quality assessments in line with statutory guidance and safeguarding procedures.

* Develop, implement and review child protection and child in need plans.

* Work collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

* Attend and contribute to strategy meetings, child protection conferences and other statutory meetings.

* Ensure children's wishes and feelings are central to assessments and planning.

* Analyse risk and make informed decisions to safeguard children and promote their welfare.

* Maintain accurate, timely and evidence-based case recording using electronic management systems.

* Prepare high-quality reports for statutory meetings and court proceedings where required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* A recognised Social Work qualification.

* Completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).

* Current Social Work England registration.

* Experience working with children and families within a statutory social work setting.

* Strong assessment, analytical and risk management skills.

* Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

* The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

* A sound understanding of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures and statutory guidance.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

* Social Work England registration.

* A recognised Social Work qualification.

* Completion of ASYE.

* Eligibility to work in the UK.

* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

* Experience within statutory Children's Social Care.
