Description:

Senior Site Manager – North Scotland

Location: Peterhead & Caithness
Sector: Civil Engineering / Energy Infrastructure
Role Type: Site-based

Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Site Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of major linear civil engineering works across North Scotland.

The position will support the construction of critical energy infrastructure, forming part of major onshore cable route projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating site delivery, managing multiple work fronts and ensuring construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

The organisation is involved in the delivery of some of Europe’s most technically demanding energy infrastructure projects, contributing to the development of a more secure and sustainable electricity network through large-scale high-voltage transmission systems.

The Role

You will take a lead role in the day-to-day management of site operations, overseeing works from initial mobilisation through to completion.

Working across extensive cable route corridors, you will coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams while maintaining close communication with the client and wider project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

Managing daily site operations across major linear civil engineering works.
Overseeing the construction of access and haul roads, cable trenches, duct installations, joint bays, HDD crossings and reinstatement works.
Coordinating several concurrent construction fronts along the cable route.
Managing subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary site teams.
Ensuring all works comply with HSE requirements, CDM regulations and project quality standards.
Tracking progress against the construction programme and implementing recovery measures where necessary.
Representing the site delivery team at client and stakeholder meetings.
Identifying and managing project risks, opportunities and site constraints.
Preparing site reports, progress updates and relevant construction documentation.
Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, programme and efficient site delivery.
About You

We are looking for an established Site Manager, Senior Agent or similar civil engineering professional with a strong background in major infrastructure projects.

Candidates currently working in a Senior Agent or Junior Project Manager position will also be considered where they can demonstrate the required level of site-based civil engineering experience.

You should have:

Proven experience managing major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong, demonstrable experience delivering linear civil engineering works.
Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary construction teams.
A thorough understanding of HSE requirements and CDM regulations.
Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
The confidence to manage complex, fast-paced construction environments with multiple interfaces.
A proactive approach to programme, quality, safety and delivery.
Desirable Experience

Experience in the following areas would be advantageous, although none are essential:

Energy infrastructure projects.
Onshore cable route construction.
Civil works associated with onshore cable installation.
HDD and other trenchless construction techniques.
Joint bay construction.
Offshore landfall interface works.
Qualifications

SMSTS is required.
CSCS card or equivalent.
Strong practical, site-based experience will be highly valued and may be considered in place of formal academic qualifications.
