A leading UK infrastructure contractor is delivering a major nationally significant project and is seeking a Senior Section Engineer (Structures) to support a key package of works. This is a complex civils scheme with a strong emphasis on structural delivery across multiple work areas.
Your new role
As a Senior Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the engineering and technical delivery of a defined section of structural works, ensuring construction is delivered in line with design, programme and quality standards.You will play a key role in bridging the gap between design and construction, supporting site leadership and ensuring technically compliant delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing the engineering delivery of structural works (RC structures, foundations and associated civils)
Ensuring construction aligns with drawings, specifications and design intent
Leading technical queries (TQs) and resolving design issues
Developing short-term programmes and lookahead plans
Coordinating resources, materials and subcontractors
Supporting constructability reviews and methodology planning
Maintaining accurate as-built records and redline drawings
Managing inspections, testing and quality documentation
Supervising Site Engineers and providing technical guidance
Supporting the Sub Agent and Site Agent in achieving programme targetsHealth, Safety & Quality
Ensure works are delivered in line with RAMS and safe systems of work
Deliver briefings including toolbox talks and task briefings
Maintain compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards
Ensure inspection and test plans (ITPs) and records are fully completedWhat you'll need to succeed
Experience working as a Senior Engineer or Section Engineer on structures packages
Strong background in reinforced concrete and structural civils
Experience working on major linear infrastructure projects such as HS2, highways or similar large-scale schemes
Strong technical understanding of construction methodologies and QA processes
Experience coordinating site teams and subcontractors
Excellent problem-solving and communication skillsQualifications:
Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Working towards Chartered status (ICE preferred)
