Senior Quantity Surveyor – Freelance
Location: Derby City Centre
Rate: £400 per day (approximately)
Duration: Long-term freelance opportunity
Start: ASAP
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major new-build manufacturing facility project in Derby.
The successful candidate will have strong civil engineering, groundworks and new-build experience, ideally having worked on industrial or manufacturing developments.
Key Responsibilities
* Commercial management of a new-build manufacturing facility.
* Managing the commercial aspects of groundworks and civil engineering packages.
* Valuations, applications for payment and cost reporting.
* Managing variations, subcontractor accounts and payments.
* Procurement and management of subcontract packages.
* Cost forecasting and budget management.
* Working closely with the project and site teams.
* Managing commercial risks and identifying potential savings.
* Reviewing and agreeing subcontractor accounts.
* Supporting the delivery of drainage, foundations and associated groundworks.
* Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting.
Experience Required
* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
* Strong civil engineering and groundworks background.
* Experience with drainage and foundations.
* Experience working on new-build industrial, manufacturing or similar facilities.
* Understanding of typical groundworks associated with large industrial sheds.
* Strong subcontractor and commercial management experience.
* Excellent communication skills with clear spoken English.
* Able to work independently and take ownership of the commercial function.
Project Information
* Initial project value: approximately £1m.
* New-build manufacturing facility.
* Further project anticipated within the next 12 months, with an estimated value of £2.5m.
