The Business
Keltbray delivers critical national infrastructure projects including the countries highway network where it has secured several major road and bridgework projects and is seeking to develop its business further. Also, the Renewable Energy sector has experienced high demands for battery storage facilities and converter stations to support major wind farms across the East Coast.
As part of this sustainable growth the business is now seeking to augment its existing commercial team with the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor for our Renewables team.
The Role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will report to the schemes Commercial Manager and will work alongside the project delivery team to ensure the accurate, and timely commercial management and reporting of the project.
They will play an integral part in delivering exceptional commercial results on behalf of the business and be responsible for developing and managing successful relationships with Clients, and other key stakeholders.
Responsibilities and duties
The core responsibilities and duties of the Senior Quantity Surveyor will include:
* Represent the business in a safe and professional manner whilst demonstrating the key Keltbray behaviours, acting with integrity, engaging in a collaborative, and trusting manner and seeking continual improvement through innovation.
* Regular liaising with the Commercial Manager to update on project performance
* Management and support of assistant, graduate, and apprentice quantity surveyors within the commercial team including the promoting of best working practices.
* Promote improvements in the operational reliability and delivery of the Project and actively safeguard the businesses contractual and commercial outcomes.
Further responsibilities extend to:
* Supporting the timely formulation and reporting of monthly Cost Value, Cash and financial reporting including regular reviews with the contract delivery teams and Senior Management
* Sustaining the effective cost management of the Project, including the monitoring of planned and actual resources and outturn Project costs
* Effective change management at main contract and subcontract levels, including the timely issue of notices and submission of quotations.
* The preparation and negotiation of Subcontractor and Supply Chain Packages on behalf of the contract delivery team, including the assessment of main contract terms and conditions and ensuring they are reflected appropriately in any engagements with the Supply Chain
The candidate desired skills and experience
The successful candidate will have the following individual attributes
* Qualified to minimum of HNC in Quantity Surveying but Degree qualified in the relevant area is desirable.
* Previous relevant experience with a Tier 1 Contractor working across infrastructure, energy and highways schemes is preferred
* A good working knowledge of the New Engineering Contracts and subcontracts (NEC) 3 and 4th Edition(s) is crucial
* IT literate and proficient in working with CEMAR (web-based contract management tool) and COINS (cloud-based cost management tool) is desirable
* Previous relevant experience working on National Highway or Renewable Energy projects would be an advantage.
