Senior Quantity Surveyor
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage all cost and commercial aspects of the utilities civils package, including drainage, water supply, power distribution, and telecoms infrastructure. This is a lead position responsible for budget establishment, cost control, commercial negotiations, and claims management.
Responsibilities
Establish, maintain, and report on utilities civils budgets and cost forecasts
Manage variation orders, change control processes, and cost implications of design changes
Review and process subcontractor invoices, valuations, and payment applications
Manage commercial claims and cost-related correspondence with stakeholders
Provide cost advice to engineers, site management, and the design team
Monitor expenditure against budget and escalate variance
Develop and manage procurement strategy for utilities civils scope
Mentor junior QS and cost support staff
Maintain commercial documentation and records to support project position
Attend project controls and commercial meetingsEssential
RICS-qualified Quantity Surveyor or equivalent professional qualification
Minimum 8 years' experience in utilities civils or major infrastructure cost management
Proven track record on rail, station, or major London infrastructure projects
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
Advanced Excel and cost management software proficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication
Stakeholder management experience across multi-disciplinary teamsDesirable
Experience with NEC or similar modern contract forms
Familiarity with BIM or integrated project delivery models
