Description:

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Engineering / Commercial Projects

Location: Buxton
Rate: £450–£500 per day
IR35: Outside IR35
Contract: Initial contract with potential for ongoing work

Ready to take your commercial expertise into complex engineering and process projects?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the commercial side of major engineering projects, working closely with the Project Manager and Planner across delivery, change and commercial close-out.

You’ll work across a varied project portfolio within food, beverage, manufacturing and industrial environments

The role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take responsibility for the commercial management of engineering and industrial projects, with a particular focus on NEC4, change management and project controls.

You’ll be responsible for:

Managing NEC4 contracts and ensuring contractual processes are followed
Managing change control, variations and Compensation Events
Cost control, forecasting and CVR reporting
Managing extensions of time and delay mechanisms
Managing subcontractor and supplier agreements
Reviewing project scope and ensuring changes are recorded and valued correctly
Maintaining robust commercial records throughout the project
Working closely with the Planner to understand programme impact and associated commercial implications
Identifying commercial risks and areas where the business could be exposed
Supporting projects through to commercial close-out and final account

About you

You’ll have a strong Quantity Surveying or commercial background, ideally gained within engineering, M&E, manufacturing, industrial, infrastructure, utilities or process environments.

Mechanical installation or engineering project experience would be particularly valuable, alongside strong NEC4 and contractual knowledge.

You’ll ideally have experience with:

NEC4
Compensation Events
Change control and variations
CVR and forecasting
Extensions of time and delay
Subcontract management
Mechanical / M&E projects
Working closely with Planning teams
Experience within food & beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical or automated production environments would also be beneficial.

Why consider it?

Rather than working on traditional construction projects, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the commercial side of technically interesting engineering and process projects, with genuine ownership across the project lifecycle.

The role offers Outside IR35 status, a rate of £450–£500 per day, and flexibility between project sites, the office and home working.

The initial requirement is contract-based, with potential for ongoing work as the project pipeline develops.

Monday–Friday | 8 hours per day | Flexible working arrangements

Mileage is paid at 45p per mile.
