Senior Quantity Surveyor

Description:

We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Shropshire Term Service Contract team based in Shrewsbury. In this role you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of essential road maintenance schemes for Shropshire Council.

The Shropshire Term Service Contract encompasses a wide range of activities including surfacing, surface dressing, drainage, structural repairs, winter maintenance, emergency response, and street scene services.

Location: Shrewsbury - hybrid working
Hours: Permanent Fulltime 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us
Salary: £42,500 - £47,500 per year + private healthcare + £5,900 annual car allowance + benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll be involved in pricing schemes, managing valuations, processing payments, and preparing final accounts.

Your day to day will include:

Managing the pricing of capital maintenance schemes including surfacing, surface dressing, drainage, and structural repairs

Overseeing cost management for winter maintenance, emergency response, and street scene activities

Assessing valuations, calculating payments, and managing the performance of allocated subcontractors

Contributing to month-end Cost Value Reports and helping to identify issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement

Supporting the commercial team with other duties as required from time to time

What are we looking for?

This Senior Quantity Surveyor opportunity would suit someone who brings:

A strong background in quantity surveying, with extensive experience in a similar environment

A degree in a commercial, construction, or related discipline

Confidence using Microsoft Excel and digital tools to support commercial insight and reporting

Well-developed numerical skills, coupled with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

A collaborative mindset, with the ability to build strong working relationships and contribute effectively within a team
