We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing Rail Infrastructure business. This is a unique opportunity to join a first in class digital programme for the railway sector - digitalising and modernising the railway with the end user in mind.

In this customer facing role you will be part of the commercial interface for the East Coast Digital Programme portfolio. Reporting into the Senior Commercial Manager, you will manage and report on new technology projects from work winning, budgeting, and cost control through to final account on an extensive and varied work bank.

This role demands developed communication and interpersonal skills, collaboration at various levels across the business and client organisations.

These are your responsibilities

Establish and collaborate with key internal functions and with appropriate levels within the client project organisation
Contract administration of assigned contracts and commercial risk management
Commercial management of various work packages
Provide support and advice to the project management teams on matters such as contract compliance, contract awareness, contract change management, claims, variations, legal and financial matters, work closely with other specialist advisors within the Siemens' organisation
Commercially manage throughout the project lifecycle to ensure business and client expectations are met and exceeded
Accurate cost and value reporting to both client and business needs
Ensure contractual notices are issued in line with contractual timeframes
Preparing and estimating contract changes / variations
Ensure all commercial processes and document control follow the appropriate company standards and governance
Maintaining auditable records in accordance with target cost contract requirement
Support junior team members in the commercial environmentQualification and skills needed for this role

Degree qualified or equivalent with demonstrable commercial management experience
Strong track record in a high value post contract management environment and position, ideally gained in a similar or related industry e.g. rail, aerospace, defence, construction, IT etc
Experience delivering under NEC4 / 3 Contracts (essential)
Excellent negotiation skills, coupled with practical experience and an in-depth understanding of the best ways in which to maximize the mutual benefits to be gained from the effective and commercial interpretation of contracts
Good customer facing skills, as well as experience of being actively involved as a team member in high-value, complex bid teams, ideally with experience of proposal and tender writing
Understanding of the technical, contractual, and financial requirements of the commercial management role and their inter-relationship
Confident and able to deal externally and internally at senior levels
Ability to operate effectively within a team environment
Experience of working in a matrix working environment and a project environment
Good financial and commercial acumen
