Description:

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Cambridge

A growing construction consultancy in Cambridge is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of projects. Working across the commercial, retail, residential, leisure and education sectors, this is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys variety and wants to take greater ownership of project delivery.

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage commissions from initial feasibility and cost planning through procurement, construction and final account. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with clients, architects, contractors and wider project teams, providing clear commercial advice while ensuring costs, risks and contractual matters are properly controlled.

This position would suit a confident Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong UK consultancy experience who can manage projects independently and build trusted client relationships. With a broad workload across several sectors, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will have the opportunity to work on different project types rather than being limited to one specialist market, while also supporting junior colleagues and contributing to the wider development of the team.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:

Leading projects from feasibility through to completion and final account

Preparing detailed cost plans, estimates and project budgets

Managing tender documentation, tender analysis and procurement advice

Overseeing valuations, variations and change control

Producing accurate cost reports and financial forecasts

Advising clients on commercial, contractual and procurement matters

Attending client, design team and site meetings

Building long-term relationships with clients and project stakeholders

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline

Strong UK PQS or cost consultancy experience

MRICS qualified or working towards chartership

Experience managing projects through both pre- and post-contract stages

Good understanding of JCT contracts and UK procurement routes

Experience across commercial, retail, residential, leisure or education projects would be advantageous

Strong client-facing, reporting and organisational skills

Able to manage multiple commissions with minimal supervision

In Return:

£60,000 - £70,000 per annum

Cambridge-based position

Varied project exposure across five key sectors

Strong level of project ownership

Opportunity to mentor junior team members

Clear progression within a growing consultancy
