Smart Solutions have an opportunity with a leading aggregates company based in West Wales, offering an exceptional service within the construction industry. They are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible in providing commercial support to the project team, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. Liaise with client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues including agreement of compensation events, claims and any additional payments.
Hours: 44 Hours a Week, Monday to Friday.
Duties:
* Understanding of the Health & Safety At Work Act & construction health & safety regulations.
* Maintain high standards of best practice in all relevant areas and promote safe behaviour.
* Producing estimates and submitting tenders.
* Responsible for the financial control of projects.
* Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting.
* Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place.
* Ensure project costs are managed effectively and carry out cost forecasting.
* Update the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for the commercial performance and strategy.
* Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the business.
* Communicates directly with the client and client’s cost manager to ensure financial contract obligations are maintained.
* Ensure subcontractors are procured on appropriate terms and conditions and ensure financial control of Subcontract accounts.
* Regularly update construction programme and review progress on-site. Along with any mitigation measures. Ensure the business is covered for all Extension of Time claims to prevent any damages being issued.
* Build client relationships and actively seek new work.
* Oversee procurement of major material and plant requirements.
* Submit and agree Applications for Payment.
* Track when client payment certificates are due and send to finance for invoicing.
The ideal candidate will require:
* HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying.
* Previous experience of the civil engineering industry.
* Experience with JCT & NEC forms of contract.
* Skilled Communicator.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Strong IT skills including a high level of competence with ERP Systems and Microsoft packages – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Project Management skills.
* Collaborate Working.
* Excellent record keeping.
* Negotiating skills.
* Driving licence.
