Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

Location: Glasgow

Salary: Competitive salary + car allowance + benefits

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of major projects across Scotland.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the financial and contractual management of significant civil engineering projects, working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

Take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Manage project budgets, costs, forecasting, valuations and cash flow.

Prepare and submit applications for payment, variations and final accounts.

Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, accounts and commercial performance.

Identify and maximise commercial opportunities while managing financial risk.

Prepare monthly CVRs and provide accurate commercial reporting to senior management.

Manage contractual correspondence, notices, changes and extensions of time.

Review and negotiate subcontract and supplier agreements.

Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered commercially and effectively.

Monitor project performance against budgets and forecasts.

Assist with dispute resolution and contractual negotiations where required.

Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.

Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.

Requirements

Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction.

Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.

Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Strong understanding of NEC and/or other major forms of construction contract.

Excellent cost control, forecasting and financial reporting skills.

Strong negotiation and communication abilities.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider commercial team.

Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline is desirable.

Professional membership such as RICS is advantageous but not essential.
