As the business continues to grow its infrastructure and energy portfolio, we're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team and play a key role in supporting major electricity transmission programme.
This is an opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects that will help shape the UK's energy network for decades to come.
The Opportunity
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll provide commercial and cost management support working on major electricity transmission schemes across the UK.
Your work could include:
New high-voltage overhead line routes, including 400kV and 275kV systems
Major substation construction and upgrade projects
Grid reinforcement and network capacity expansion
Associated civil engineering, cabling and infrastructure packages
Complex, high-value capital investment programmesThis programme represents one of the most significant upgrades to the UK's electricity transmission network in a generation. With the transition to renewable energy accelerating, these projects are critical to increasing network capacity, strengthening resilience and supporting the UK's net-zero ambitions.
You'll work alongside Tier 1 contractors, engineers, design consultants and programme controls teams, providing robust commercial support across NEC-based contracts and ensuring projects remain commercially controlled throughout their lifecycle.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities are likely to include, but won't be limited to:
Supporting commercial and cost management activities across major infrastructure projects
Assisting with the administration of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including Options A, C and E
Managing and supporting change control, early warnings and compensation events
Preparing cost plans, budgets, valuations, progress reports and financial forecasts
Monitoring expenditure, cash flow and earned value against approved budgets
Supporting commercial risk management and value engineering exercises
Working collaboratively with contractors, clients and multidisciplinary project teams
Contributing to procurement documentation, tender analysis and contract reviews
Ensuring commercial compliance and high-quality reporting
Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor who is commercially minded, technically strong and comfortable working within complex infrastructure environments.
You'll ideally have:
Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities, energy, transmission or major civil engineering
Practical knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and associated commercial processes
Experience with cost forecasting, reporting, risk management and programme controls
Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
The ability to work effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
MRICS status or active progression towards chartership would be advantageousMost importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, takes ownership of their work and wants to contribute to projects that have a genuine national impact.
