6-month contractAbout the Role:

The Energy Division at ARM is currently seeking a Senior Primary Plant engineer to join a Civil Engineering Business, that offers services within the nuclear sector.

Role Purpose:

The primary duty of this position is to create HV Plant designs for electrical substation projects with a maximum voltage of 400kV. Along with the general tasks and obligations described below, the precise roles and responsibilities of the HV Plant Engineer can be found in the attached appendix.

Key responsibilities include:

Ensure compliance with the Company's Quality, Health and safety, and Environmental Procedures and Business Process Manual
Assist in developing and training the Design Team based on their skill level and experience.
Coordinate contract requirements with Project Manager, customer, external suppliers, and other company departments
Establish Design content and resource allocation for the work package to meet project plans.
Monitor and report progress, estimate completion, and identify potential resource issues to the Design Manager/Project Manager
Specify and quantify equipment/materials in coordination with other company departments for maximum benefit.
Report scope variations to the Design Manager/Project Manager and proceed with approval.
Provide necessary instructions for site materials and tools to the Project Manager
Ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and contract specifications.
Design work by Health, Safety, and Environmental Procedures and generate Designer Risk Assessments
Review contract documentation, determine the company's scope of work, and highlight any discrepancies to the Project Manager
Participate in Design Review/Contract Close-out Meetings, ensuring timely completion of action items.
Collaborate with Designers and Draughtspersons on drawing requirements.
Review and approve designs provided by other engineers.
Prepare and approve drawings for customer/sub-contractor interface Develop Installation and Commissioning packages with other company departments based on schedule.
Create special Test Specifications and Procedures for the Inspection and Test Department
Review and prepare accurate final records from "As Installed" site drawings and documentation.
Identify and propose solutions for any design issues to Assistant Design Manager/Project Manager
Conduct engineering checks as necessary to comply with the Business Process Manual.What do you need to succeed?

Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; BSc/MSc preferable.
Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer: Liaising with customers and suppliers.
Overall design and specification of HV Substation Plant electrical power systems and associated power system components.
A basic understanding of P&C aspects is preferable.
Calculations to demonstrate the integrity of designs.
TP141 HV Substation qualification is an advantage.
AutoCAD experience is an advantage.
