We are now looking for a Senior Planning Policy Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

The Role

As a Senior Planning Policy Officer, you will support the preparation and delivery of the Development Plan, the Dartmoor National Park Management Plan and other spatial plans.

You’ll oversee the progress of the Development Plan, reviewing policies and actions including the maintenance of statutory registers, databases and the preparation of the Monitoring Report.

Delivering evidence for the Development Plan, you’ll carry out surveys, studies and appraisals, prepare briefs and tender invitations and support the selection of consultants and contractors.

Additionally, you will:

- Deliver advice regarding planning policy
- Liaise with local authorities, agencies, organisations and other regional and national bodies
- Contribute to web content, social media, publications and events
- Line manage an Assistant Policy Officer
- Ensure adherence to health & safety policies

About You

To be considered as a Senior Planning Policy Officer, you will need:

- Sound understanding of planning issues and relevant planning legislation
- Knowledge of development plan production, the procedures that need to be followed and the documents that underpin the production of policy plans
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to collect, process and analyse data accurately
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good presentation skills
- Good general IT skills
- Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
- A full, valid driving licence
