Data centres are one of the fastest moving spaces in engineering right now, and this is a genuine chance to be part of a consultancy that's thriving in it. Our client is a multi disciplinary building services consultancy with a growing, highly regarded Mission Critical team, delivering complex, high profile data centre projects for major international clients.
They're expanding fast and looking for a Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a talented, close knit MEP team. You'll get real ownership of design work, exposure to some of the most technically demanding cooling and HVAC challenges in the sector, and a clear path toward Principal and Associate Director level.
What you'll be doing
Producing conceptual and detailed mechanical design solutions in line with client briefs
Carrying out mechanical services design calculations using Hevacomp and IES software
Supporting CFD briefing and reviews with the supply chain
Working across heating, ventilation, air conditioning, cooling and domestic hot and cold water services for mission critical facilities
Getting involved in large scale liquid cooling scheme design
Working with HVAC systems including Fan Wall, CRAH/CRAC, VRV, VAV, 4 pipe fan coil, close control, chilled beam and chilled ceiling systems
Taking projects from feasibility studies and concept design through to detailed design
Producing mechanical specifications and schedules
Building strong working relationships with architects, structural engineers, project managers and quantity surveyors
Acting as a technical point of contact for clients
What we're looking for
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline
Solid data centre or mission critical design experience
Working toward Chartered status, or already chartered (CIBSE / IMechE)
Familiarity with codes such as BS EN 50600, ANSI/ASHRAE 90.4 and CIBSE guidance
Familiarity with data centre tier rating systems and hyperscale or colocation requirements
Working knowledge of Revit and BIM workflows (ACC, BIM 360 and Navisworks are a bonus)
A collaborative, client facing approach and strong communication skills
