We are excited to announce a vacancy for the position of Senior Network Officer within our esteemed client's Information Services department at a leading educational institution. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to contribute to the effective and secure operation of the university's IT networks. Paying up to £45,000 per annum.
The Senior Network Officer will play a pivotal role in managing and implementing IT infrastructure installation and network provisioning projects, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and high levels of availability and performance. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and manage network components efficiently within budget.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Managing IT infrastructure installation and network provisioning projects
Ensuring new data network installations comply with technical specifications
Co-managing stock of network components and infrastructure
Maintaining network operation and performance
Developing and administering active network equipment and security systems
Assisting in fault diagnosis, maintenance, and configuration of IT networks
Contributing to network strategy, design, and implementation
Documenting network elements and observing change control procedures
Monitoring network resources for capacity and security planning
Collaborating with external service providers and internal IT Helpdesk
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulationsEssential Criteria:
Proficiency in networking concepts and OSI 7-layer model
Solid knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies
Experience with enterprise wireless technologies and structured cabling standards
Understanding of encryption and PKI principles
Practical understanding of network application protocols
Familiarity with network management and monitoring methods
Strong organisational and analytical skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Adaptability to technological change and continuous self-development
