Enterprise networking at scale.We're working with a major organisation that operates a large, complex and business-critical network estate across multiple UK locations. As investment continues across infrastructure and cyber resilience, they are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join the team and help maintain, secure and evolve their core network services.This isn't a role for someone looking to sit behind a queue and process tickets. It's a position for an experienced engineer who enjoys diagnosing complex issues, owning technical decisions and working across a broad enterprise networking estate where reliability, security and performance genuinely matter.You'll join an established team of infrastructure specialists, gain exposure to a wide range of technologies and play a key role in supporting an environment where networking sits at the heart of business operations.
The role offers a hybrid working model, with 2-3 days per week onsite in Oxfordshire. Given the hands-on nature of the environment and close collaboration with infrastructure and security teams, regular site attendance forms an important part of the role.

Your new role

This is a hands-on Senior Network Engineer position supporting a sizeable multi-site network estate across routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, network access control and core infrastructure services.You'll take ownership of technical issues, support network improvement initiatives and help maintain a secure, highly available enterprise environment that supports thousands of users and critical operational services. Working alongside infrastructure and security specialists, you'll be responsible for troubleshooting complex incidents, supporting project delivery, implementing changes and contributing to the ongoing development of network services.This is an environment where you'll be trusted to operate independently, solve challenging technical problems and provide senior-level engineering expertise across a broad technology stack.
Key areas of responsibility include:

Enterprise firewall administration and security policy management
Wireless networking and access control platforms
Routing, switching and network performance optimisation
DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management
Network monitoring, troubleshooting and incident resolution
Service improvements, upgrades and project delivery
Supporting network security and resilience initiatives
Collaborating with infrastructure, security and project teams to ensure network services continue to evolve alongside business requirements
What you'll need to succeed

You'll be an experienced Senior Network Engineer with a strong background supporting enterprise-scale environments and a proven track record working across complex multi-site networks. Experience across the following technologies will be highly desirable:

Fortinet Firewalls
Extreme XIQ Wireless
ClearPass or equivalent NAC solutions
Infoblox IPAM
LAN/WAN Networking
Layer 2 & Layer 3 Switching
DNS & DHCP
IPv4 & IPv6
Network Security & Access Control
You'll be comfortable working within complex environments, managing multiple priorities and providing technical leadership when required.Strong troubleshooting ability, clear communication skills and a methodical approach to problem solving will be essential.Candidates who have operated in large corporate, public sector, critical infrastructure, engineering or highly regulated environments are likely to thrive in this role.
