Description:

Location; Sandiacre, Nottingham

We are working with a global engineering and manufacturing business operating within the rail sector. The UK operation is part of a large international group, combining corporate IT with live manufacturing and operational technology environments.

This is a contract opportunity for a Network Engineer to provide cover for the UK Senior Network Engineer during a secondment. You will be the hands-on network lead for UK sites, supporting the wider EMEA team and working on a mix of day-to-day support and infrastructure projects.

The role would suit an experienced, Cisco-focused Network Engineer who enjoys variety and wants a contract with real project work rather than pure ticket handling. It is a chance to work on enterprise-scale infrastructure within a well-known global group.

Responsibilities of a Network Engineer:

Providing first and second line network support via ServiceNow incidents and requests

Installing, configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points

Maintaining Cisco ISE, Infoblox, Cisco WLC, LiveNX and HPE Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN

Delivering network projects including hardware refreshes, legacy replacement and new site commissioning

Supporting connectivity for manufacturing and OT systems, including CNC equipment

Raising and carrying out changes in line with ITIL processes and keeping network documentation up to date

Skills & Qualifications of a Network Engineer:

CCNA as a minimum, CCNP preferred

Around 5 years' experience in network engineering with a strong Cisco routing and switching background

Good knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), WAN, MPLS and VPN technologies

Firewall and network security experience, ideally Cisco ASA and/or Palo Alto

Experience of SD-WAN (ideally Aruba EdgeConnect / Silver Peak), Cisco ISE or wireless design is desirable

Full UK driving licence for occasional travel to UK sites

Benefits of a Network Engineer:

Up to £465 per day (Inside IR35, paid via PAYE)

25 days paid holiday plus Bank holidays

Monday to Friday, site based in Sandiacre, Nottingham

Contract covering a secondment 12 month contract.

Mix of BAU support and hands-on infrastructure project work

Exposure to enterprise, data centre, cloud and manufacturing OT networks

Part of a supportive UK IT team within a large global group
