Enable Design are a growing design consultancy working with in infrastructure construction projects including rail, renewables and utilities. Due to significant growth and successful tendering we have an opportunity for a Senior or Principal level Mechanical design engineer to work on a existing water treatment works design project.
This role is a freelance outside IR35 opportunity for roughly 4 months with future works and extensions possible - immediate start available for the right person.
The project is a cross connection scheme at an existing water treatment works facility. The scope is for the detailed design of civil, mechanical and specialist disciplines including the construction of a temporary shaft/caisson to accommodate new water main cross connection to connect into an existing Thames Water riser main. The requirement is for a mechanical designer to come on board, lead the mechanical design aspects and link-in with the wider project team in civils, tunnelling and construction. This is the first of many other opportunities and possibility of repeat work is significant within this new client.
* Experience delivering mechanical designs in the water sector related to mechanical pipework, values and equipment
* Experience of delivery permanent works design in line with any temporary works designs
* Working in a multidisciplinary engineering design and construction environment
* Hands on with mechanical design and can undertake mechanical design to current standards and regulations
* Experience working within AMP 7 an advantage
* Experience providing mechanical designs within the water sector within existing and operational water treatment works facilities
* Worked to Thames Water Quality standards
* Experience undertaking mechanical design interfacing with existing assets such as riser mains, pumps and valves.
* Can specify all relevant mechanical equipment associated with a cross connection scheme
* Can undertake hydraulic assessments and calculations with ability to evaluate and conclude the outputs
* Experience directing Cad Technicians to produce 3D drawings
* Chartered Mechanical Engineer with IMechE or similar an advantage
* Can work within a fast paced multidisciplinary design and construction environment
* Has good awareness for the construction and safety the designs contribute to
* Identifies ways to work efficiently
* Team Player with collaborative approach
