Overview

My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic and growing building services team in Newark-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to take on a senior role, contributing to a variety of live and technically challenging projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical building services design, with proficiency in Revit being essential. Experience with IES and MagiCAD, as well as knowledge of heat pumps and low-carbon heating solutions, would be highly advantageous.

Day-to-Day

Your day-to-day activities will involve:

Developing mechanical building services designs using Revit
Working across heating, ventilation, cooling and domestic services
Supporting projects through design, construction and commissioning
Conducting thermal modelling and environmental assessments
Reviewing designs, specifications and technical documentation
Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors and project teams
Supporting the development of low-carbon design solutions

Responsibilities

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and practical mechanical design solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

Produce detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs across RIBA stages
Undertake Dynamic Thermal Simulations, overheating assessments and Part L calculations
Develop and review heat pump and low-carbon heating solutions
Review designs produced by internal teams, consultants and contractors
Provide technical support throughout construction and commissioning
Prepare technical submissions, specifications and design documentation
Ensure designs meet relevant regulations, standards and project requirements

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Proven experience in mechanical building services design
Strong knowledge of heating, ventilation, cooling and domestic services
Proficiency in Revit - essential
Experience delivering designs on live projects
Good understanding of relevant building regulations and standards
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
IES experience - highly advantageous
MagiCAD experience - beneficial, with training available
