Description:

Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Quantity Surveyor
Northumberland | Major Data Centre Project | Specialist Contractor | £80–95k + Car Allowance & Bonus

I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist contractor working on one of the UK’s flagship new-build data centre projects in Northumberland.
This is a major, high-profile development involving significant substation and critical power infrastructure, and the successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial delivery of these packages across the wider scheme.

The business is experiencing a period of significant growth and has an excellent pipeline of work within the data centre, power and wider critical infrastructure sectors.

The Role

As SQS / MQS, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of major substation builds, working closely with the project leadership team, client, consultants and supply chain.

You'll be involved across areas including:

Commercial management of major substation and infrastructure packages
Subcontract procurement and management
Cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow
Change management and valuations
Commercial risk and opportunity management
Contract administration
Subcontractor negotiations
Final accounts and commercial close-out
Supporting and developing junior commercial team members where appropriate

We're Looking For

Ideally, you'll have experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor for a Tier 1 contractor or similarly well-established specialist contractor, delivering major construction or infrastructure projects.
Substation and critical power experience would be highly advantageous, given the nature of the project.

However, we're also very interested in candidates with strong commercial experience across related sectors, including:

Data Centres
BESS
Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences
Power & Utilities
Renewable Energy
Energy Infrastructure
Nuclear
Major Infrastructure
Industrial / Advanced Manufacturing

The most important thing is that you have the commercial capability and project experience to operate effectively on a large, complex scheme.

Package

£80,000–£95,000 basic salary, depending on experience
Car allowance
Bonus
Long-term opportunity with a rapidly growing specialist contractor
Exposure to a major hyperscale data centre and critical power project
Excellent future career progression opportunities

Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a specialist contractor at a particularly exciting point in its growth.

You'll be working on a major hyperscale data centre development, with substantial substation and critical power packages, while gaining exposure to one of the UK's most significant construction projects.

For the right individual, there is also the opportunity to build a long-term career with a business that has ambitious plans across the UK and European data centre and critical infrastructure markets.

?? Location: Northumberland
??? Sector: Data Centres / Critical Power / Substations
?? Level: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Quantity Surveyor
?? Salary: £80–95k + car allowance + bonus

If you're an experienced SQS/MQS with a strong contractor background and are interested in getting involved in a major data centre and power infrastructure project, I'd be keen to have a confidential conversation
