Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A growing water and environmental consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Hydrologist to join its Manchester team. The role will involve delivering a varied portfolio of hydrology and water-sector projects, with particular exposure to water quality, storm overflows, catchment investigations and environmental assessment.

The Role

Lead the delivery of hydrology projects from inception through to completion.
Undertake hydrological assessments, catchment analysis and flood hydrology studies.
Deliver and support Storm Overflow Assessment Framework (SOAF) studies and storm overflow investigations.
Analyse rainfall, river flow, water quality and wider environmental datasets.
Prepare high-quality technical reports, assessments and supporting documentation.
Provide technical input into water quality, wastewater and catchment management projects.
Undertake flood frequency analysis, rainfall-runoff assessments and climate change assessments.
Support projects for water companies, regulators, developers and public-sector clients.
Undertake site visits and field investigations where required.
Liaise directly with clients, regulators and other project stakeholders.
Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
Review technical work and provide mentoring and support to junior team members.
Contribute to bids, fee proposals and business development activities.
Work collaboratively with hydraulic modellers, water quality specialists, engineers and environmental consultants.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

A degree in Hydrology, Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Significant experience within hydrology, water resources or water/environmental consultancy.
Experience delivering or supporting SOAF studies, storm overflow investigations or wastewater-related projects.
Strong understanding of UK hydrology and the water environment.
Experience analysing hydrological, water quality and environmental datasets.
Knowledge of WINEP, AMP programmes and UK water-sector regulatory requirements would be advantageous.
Experience with hydrological, hydraulic or water-quality modelling software.
Strong technical report writing and numerical analysis skills.
Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
Experience managing projects and mentoring junior colleagues.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site work.Chartered status or working towards CIWEM, ICE or a similar professional qualification would be advantageous.
