Senior Hydraulic Modeller - Manchester
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000
Location: Manchester
An established consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join their growing water and flood risk team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hydraulic modeller to take on technically challenging projects while developing their career within a supportive and collaborative team.
The Role
You will be involved in a range of hydraulic modelling and flood risk projects, working across different stages from data collection and model build through to analysis, reporting and client delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing, reviewing and running 1D and 2D hydraulic models
Working on fluvial, pluvial and surface water flood risk assessments
Model build, verification, calibration and sensitivity testing
Interpreting hydraulic modelling results and identifying flood risk constraints
Producing technical reports, drawings and flood mapping
Supporting the preparation of flood risk assessments and drainage strategies
Liaising with clients, stakeholders and other technical disciplines
Providing technical guidance to more junior members of the team
Contributing to project planning, fee proposals and technical delivery
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Water Management or a related discipline
Several years' experience within hydraulic modelling and flood risk consultancy
Strong experience using Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW
Experience with 1D and 2D modelling
Good understanding of flood risk principles and UK drainage/water environments
Experience producing technical reports and presenting technical findings
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with GIS, InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS or AutoCAD would also be beneficial.
