Description:

Our client is a well-established, family-owned British business with a long-standing reputation within the manufacturing sector. As the organisation continues to develop, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join their team on a part-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and managers, providing pragmatic HR advice and taking ownership of a broad range of employee relations and people-related matters. The role will have a particular focus on supporting backshift and weekend operations, so flexibility and confidence working with a predominantly shift-based workforce are essential.

 About the Role:

Your responsibilities will include:

Taking ownership of complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability matters.

Advising managers on absence, occupational health referrals, reasonable adjustments and effective return-to-work processes.

Supporting recruitment activity across shift operations, from workforce planning and candidate attraction through to interviews and onboarding.

Working in partnership with managers to improve employee retention, engagement and overall workforce effectiveness.

Supporting HR projects and initiatives designed to improve people processes and the employee experience.

Providing guidance and support during formal hearings and helping senior managers reach appropriate, well-informed decisions.

Overseeing key employee lifecycle processes, including probation reviews and exit interviews.

Acting as the HR representative at operational, Tier 2 and senior management meetings.

Reviewing and maintaining job descriptions and supporting changes to organisational structures where required.

Advising managers on effective recruitment, selection and retention approaches.

Using HR data and reporting to identify trends relating to turnover, engagement, absence and retention.

Contributing to the review and development of HR policies, ensuring they remain aligned with current UK employment legislation.

Supporting and promoting initiatives focused on employee engagement, wellbeing and a positive workplace culture.

 Working Pattern:

This is a 20-hour-per-week part-time position, primarily supporting the client's backshift and weekend operations.

The working pattern is:

Monday: 3.00pm – 7.00pm

Tuesday – Thursday: 7.00pm – 11.00pm

Saturday or Sunday: 4 hours, flexible between 8.00am and 6.00pm

 About You:

CIPD Level 5 qualification, or be actively working towards this.

Previous experience in an HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor position.

Strong working knowledge of UK employment legislation and practical HR best practice.

Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels.

A calm, professional and discreet approach when dealing with confidential or sensitive situations.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Good knowledge of HR policies, procedures and employee lifecycle processes.

Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office.

A proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve HR processes and ways of working.

The resilience and professionalism required to operate effectively within a busy, shift-based environment.
