Full Time

6 Month Contract Initially

Bristol / Hybrid – at least 2 days in the Office a week and Site Visits as and when required

Our Client is looking for a Senior Highway Electrical Design Engineer to join their team on an initial 6 month contractual basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the Health and Safety, electrical compliance, effective project management and development of the Highway Electrical Asset lighting and electrical design. To promote, plan, organise, manage, record and deliver on Highway Electrical Asset and associated budgets and projects to deliver service delivery targets and statutory requirements. To undertake performance management reviews of reporting officers to ensure development and progression of the team.

Requirement - ESSENTIAL

* Qualified to HNC (Electrical Engineering) level and ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma or equivalent qualification or significant relevant experience and be eligible for membership of an appropriate professional institution.

* Have the ability to achieve registration with the Highways Electrical Registration scheme (HERs) National Highways Sectors Scheme 8, to maintain ongoing relevant electrical competency.

* Proven project management experience including supervision of professional and technical staff including the monitoring of contractors. Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff.

* Have a full working knowledge of relevant current Health and Safety legislation.

* Relevant experience of managing complex electrical and lighting design, costing in association with design fees, approvals and services to agreed timescales and budget.

* To ensure that the designs are in accordance with current relevant standards and legislation, specification, Schedule of Rates and designer risk assessment.

* Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of Equalities and Diversity issues.

* Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent to include: email, word processing, spreadsheets, using the internet as a research tool. Have a good understanding regarding the use of Computer Added Design, Lighting and Electrical design software and databases. Have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to offer relevant technical advice to MP’s, Elected Members, senior management and external stakeholders. To include queries, complaints, FOI’s ensuring that they are responded to within corporate timescales.

* A full driving license is required for this role
