Senior Hardware Systems Engineer (Contract) - Portsmouth (Broad Oak)
A leading organisation in the defence and security sector is looking for a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer to join their team on-site at Broad Oak, Portsmouth. This is a contract role supporting complex maritime programmes, covering hardware design, test, installation and in-service engineering support.

What you'll be doing
Producing design, test and installation documentation
Supporting design proving, including environmental and EMC considerations
Investigating and resolving hardware/design issues
Designing and building electrical/hardware systems to achieve Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT(E))
Supporting development systems and related engineering activities
Installing and setting to work hardware onboard ship
Working to configuration control processes and maintaining baselines
What we're looking for (essential)
Experience in a hardware engineering domain
Experience developing equipment using COTS hardware components
Good understanding of blade and PC-based technologies
Proactive, can-do approach with flexibility to support across the team
Desirable experience
Working in a large, complex multi-project environment
COTS enclosures (units/cabinets), design, wiring schedules, power distribution
Background in defence or another highly regulated industry
Qualifications
Academic qualification in Engineering (or related STEM)
Professional registration is advantageous
