About the role

As a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant, you will support the delivery of project tasks to meet budget, programme and quality targets, consistently meeting or exceeding client expectations. You'll also play a key role in promoting the consultancy's services when liaising with clients and internal disciplines, and contribute to continued business growth through technical leadership and wider commercial activity.

Key duties and responsibilities

Manage multiple projects (or components) from commission through to close-out, including programme, budget, resourcing and subcontractor management
Plan, specify and supervise ground investigations and associated site works, ensuring safe working, robust QA/QC and effective liaison with contractors and laboratories
Develop and maintain conceptual site models (CSMs) and produce/oversee risk assessments to inform planning, design and remediation decisions
Prepare, manage and technically review deliverables such as Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports, remediation method statements, materials management plans, and verification/validation reports
Carry out internal technical reviews to ensure outputs are fit for purpose prior to issue and/or senior sign-off
Act as a key client contact, supporting stakeholder engagement and (where required) regulator liaison to assist with planning applications and discharge of conditions
Manage project commercial performance, including change control, invoicing, debt management and project reporting
Support business development through proposal writing, pipeline/workload planning and identifying opportunities to add value
Coach, mentor and support junior staff development
Promote a positive health & safety culture and ensure compliance with relevant requirements
Maintain CPD and contribute to the ongoing development of the geo-environmental service offering

Essential skills & experience

Relevant degree (or equivalent) in geology, environmental science, geotechnical engineering or similar
Proven ability to manage multiple projects of varying sizes and support junior staff in delivery
Strong understanding of the UK contaminated land process from preliminary risk assessment through to verification
Good working knowledge of relevant UK standards and guidance (e.g., BS 10175 (current edition), BS 5930 and associated best practice)
Ability to review/check technical reports for quality and accuracy prior to senior sign-off
Experience producing cost proposals for clients
Confident client and stakeholder liaison skills, including supporting regulator engagement where required
Demonstrable reporting experience, including:
Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Studies
Phase 2 Geo-Environmental Interpretative Reports
Remediation Method Statements
Materials Management Plans
Validation/Verification ReportsDesirable: Working towards or holding relevant professional accreditation/chartership; SiLC/SQP and/or CL:AIRE DoWCoP/QP experience.
