Senior Forensic Accountant - (part time)
Fixed term Contract
Birmingham, West Midlands (with hybrid working)

We are looking for a Senior Forensic accountant to come and join us in our Birmingham Office on a part time basis working 3 days a week.

The Benefits:

- Salary of circa £50,000 - £60,000 (pro rata)
- Civil service pension, with an employer contribution rate of 27%

Your Role:

Working as part of our Operations Team means assessing new entrants into the industry, holding illicit gambling operators to account and playing a crucial role in keeping regulatory activities up to date with changes happening across the industry. The Forensic Accounting team is responsible for assessing and managing volumes of complex evidence and using it to inform our assessments and decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

It’s about experience. You will need an accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 6 years in the Forensic Accounting practice area. Experience of trusts, partnerships, LLCs, LLPs, stock exchange filings, and special purpose investment vehicles is desirable.

It’s about your background. You will need a background in financial audits, financial reporting systems, data analysis techniques for fraud detection, evidence gathering and investigative techniques. You will also need a good understanding of accounting and auditing standards.

It’s about specialised knowledge. You will need to apply your specialist knowledge and experience to identify regulatory issues and inform assessments and decisions.

It’s about being thorough. You will need to be able to conduct detailed and thorough examinations of financial information and legal documents with a view to identifying anomalies, areas of concern, and evidence of regulatory breaches or criminality.

It’s about team management. You will be an experienced senior manager who enjoys coaching and empowering your team to aim high and achieve well.

It’s about being collaborative. You will be an experienced forensic accountant who enjoys collaborating with colleagues including those with and without accounting experience.

It’s about effective communication. You will be able to explain complex corporate transactions and financial data to non-accountants in clear, concise written reports and be able to expand on the issues and potential consequences in formal and informal meetings. You may occasionally be required to present your findings to our Commissioners at a Panel Hearing.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 6 years in the Forensic Accounting practice area.

Experience of preparing reports and formal documents that are clear and concise with minimal oversight.

Background in financial audits, financial reporting systems, accounting and auditing standards and procedures.

Experience carrying out detailed open-source research, gathering and analysing complex information, using a careful and methodical approach to recording information and preserving evidential integrity.

Ability to prioritise and progress multiple complex projects under tight deadlines to deliver the highest quality robust advice.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of seniority.

Conduct detailed and thorough examinations of financial information to identify anomalies and areas of concern, along with any evidence of regulatory breaches or criminal offending.

Experience liaising with regulatory bodies, lawyers, witnesses and law enforcement bodies.

Desirable:

Regulatory experience.

Experience of mergers and acquisitions, stock exchange filings, trusts, limited partnerships, LLCs, LLPs and special purpose investment vehicles.
