Senior Fire Engineer | Manchester | Hybrid Working

This opportunity sits within a growing specialist fire engineering consultancy with an established reputation across the UK built environment sector. Their workload spans residential, commercial, mixed-use, education, healthcare and complex existing buildings, providing exposure to a broad range of fire engineering challenges.

The business has continued to grow through repeat client relationships, technical quality and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. As a result, they are seeking an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to strengthen their Manchester team.

The successful candidate will take ownership of fire engineering projects from concept through to completion, working closely with architects, developers, contractors and design teams to deliver practical, compliant and commercially focused fire safety solutions.

This role would suit an experienced Fire Engineer looking for greater autonomy, increased client exposure and a clear route towards Principal and Associate-level responsibilities.

The Role

As a Senior Fire Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering fire engineering consultancy services across a varied portfolio of projects throughout the UK.

You will act as a key technical contributor within project teams, supporting design development, managing client relationships and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver fire engineering projects across multiple sectors including residential, commercial and mixed-use developments

* Prepare and review Fire Strategies, Fire Statements and technical fire engineering reports

* Undertake performance-based fire engineering analysis

* Provide fire safety advice throughout design and construction phases

* Liaise with clients, architects, developers, contractors and approval authorities

* Manage project delivery, programme requirements and client expectations

* Mentor and support Graduate Fire Engineers and junior team members

* Contribute to technical excellence, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives

* Support business development activities and client relationship management

Essential Requirements

* Degree qualified in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline

* Previous experience working within a Fire Engineering Consultancy environment

* Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, Approved Document B and fire safety legislation

* Experience producing Fire Strategies and delivering fire engineering projects independently

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

* Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or similar professional body

* Working towards Chartered Engineer status or committed to achieving chartership

Desirable Experience

* Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling

* Smoke control and evacuation analysis

* Complex or high-profile building projects

* Experience mentoring junior engineers

* Chartered Engineer status
