We are excited to be supporting an excellent NHS organisation based in the East Midlands, to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant to join them on a 12-18 month contract.

The role of Senior Financial Accountant requires previous experience in a technical accounting role within the NHS, and experience of supporting large capital projects.

This is a key technical role within the finance team, supporting the Head of Treasury to manage Treasury and Capital accounting functions, with the primary objective being to ensure the Trust core financial data is highly robust and presents a true and fair view in accordance with all the relevant financial guidelines and regulations, rules and legal requirements.

Key responsibilities:

* Responsible for the planning, production and completion of the Trust Annual Accounts and the management of the year end accounts process

* Lead technical accounting specialist within the Trust for interpreting accounting rules and regulations

* Responsibility for the financial reporting of the Trusts annual capital programme and the accounting treatment of the Trust’s fixed asset base

* Responsibility for the financial assessment of large capital business case developments

* Providing analysis and significant input regarding the completion of the monthly financial internal and external reports, Board and subcommittee papers

* As part of the senior finance team, ensure the capital information provided for the long term financial plan and integrated annual business planning process is robust

* Significant responsibility for managing influential external relationships with key organisations such as External and Internal Auditors and HM Revenue and Customs

Candidates must be fully qualified accountants, with extensive experience in technical accounting roles within the NHS.

They offer a flexible, hybrid working arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to work on site in the East Midlands when needed.
